Comfrey – Great in composts and liquid manures

This is a non-edible perennial herb, the leaves of which can be harvested several times a season and used as a compost activator to help break down other compost materials. It can also be used as mulch or to make liquid manure as it is rich in potassium and contains phosphorus, nitrogen and vitamin B12.

How to grow seed of Comfrey

Sow direct outdoors into moist, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Sow seed thinly at a depth of 1cm in rows 30cm apart. Alternatively sow seeds in pots or trays under glass and transplant them outdoors when plants are well grown.
