Rough Hawkbit – Leontodon Hispidus

Rough Hawkbit is a short grassland perennial that is similar to Catsear and Dandelion. It has single, rich golden-yellow flowers at the top of the stem, which blooms from late May to October. It grows well in dry conditions as it has a long tap root. It grows from a rosette of leaves on a wide range of soils. It is slow growing and will survive cutting and grazing.

NB. Dandelions contain a milky juice, catsears have chaffy scales among their florets and hawkbits have neither.

Best sown in the autumn but can be sown at any time.
